ICAA assumes full air traffic control at BIAP
Staff Sgt. Bradley Rich, 447th Expeditionary Operations Support Squadron air traffic control liaison, coordinates the arrival of a military aircraft here with an Iraqi ATC shift supervisor Oct. 14, 2009. Air traffic control operations were conducted by Iraqis and U.S. Airmen assigned to the 447 EOSS at Sather Air Base, while more Iraqis were training to become certified. Airmen were able to fully turn over air traffic control duties to the Iraqis as of Oct.1. The Airmen now focus on military flights arriving and departing from BIAP. Sergeant Rich is deployed from Tinker Air Force Base, Okla., and hails from Longview, Texas. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt. Johnny L. Saldivar)
