The new MRAP Category III Buffalo models, which cost between $600,000 and $1 million each, will phase out the High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles, also known as Humvees. MRAPs are designed with V-shaped bottoms raised more than 3 feet off the ground to reduce servicemembers casualties by protecting them from improvised explosive devices, and to increase their mobility and enhance mission success throughout the areas of responsibility. Sergeant Tague is assigned to the 438th Aerial Port Flight and is deployed from Pope Air Force Base, N.C. Colonel Couvillion is the 438th Expeditionary Support Squadron commander.
