Staff Sgt. Edgar Perez and other aerial porters team up with Marines to strap a Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle into a C-17 Globemaster III Aug. 25 at Al Asad Air Base, Iraq. The new MRAP Category III Buffalo models, which cost between $600,000 and $1 million each, will phase out the High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles, also known as Humvees. MRAPs have bottoms raised more than 3 feet off the ground to increase servicemembers' mobility and enhance mission success throughout the areas of responsibility.
