RED HORSE Airmen support Army in southern Baghdad
Tech. Sgt. Rain Albertson drills holes in the framework of the first of four tactical operations centers in order to run wires which will provide electrical service in the building June 22 at Forward Operating Base Kalsu, Iraq. Sergeant Albertson is an electrician with the 557th Expeditionary RED HORSE Squadron deployed from Pope Air Force Base, N.C., and is originally from Hampton, Va. He and his fellow Rapid Engineer Deployable Heavy Operational Repair Squadron Engineers , or RED HORSE, Airmen are forward deployed from Balad Air Base, Iraq, to build four tactical operations centers for the Army's 2nd Brigade combat team, 3rd Infantry Division headquartered here. The 2/3 ID are currently running their operations out of tents. The RED HORSE unit was requested by the Army to come into this "Triangle of Death" location because of their self-suffiency and for the multiple skill sets they bring to a project.
