Controllers call in air strike to disrupt enemy
U.S. Army Col. James Adams, deputy commander of the 2nd Brigade combat team, and his staff watch real-time surveillance video June 25 at Forward Operating Base Kalsu, Iraq, during a bombing mission to destroy a suspected explosives-laden roadway south of Baghdad. Air Force joint terminal attack controllers working with Colonel Adams' staff called in a B-1 Lancer to bomb the suspected main supply route used by insurgents to bring accelerants from the south into the Baghdad area. The controllers are with the 15th Expeditionary Air Support Operations Squadron and are assigned to provide support to the U.S. Army's 2nd Brigade combat team, 3rd Infantry Division.
