Pilots get taste of combat during Red Flag-Alaska
Brig. Gen. William Rew, 57th Wing commander and Senior Airman Richard Kalinowski, 57th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron crew chief, from Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., conduct post-flight checks June 7 on the flightline. General Rew flew as an aggressor during Red Flag-Alaska 07-2 at Eielson AFB. The exercise is designed to give young pilots and aircrew their first 10 combat sorties using the walk-crawl-run approach, stepping up the level of threat and level of difficulty.
