Early aviators memorialized

Air Force Chief of Staff Gen, T. Michael Moseley speaks during a ceremony at the Lafayette Memorial outside Paris. French and Americans gathered to pay homage to the United States' first combat aviators who comprised the Lafayette Escadrille. The all-American squadron of volunteers flew under the French flag during World War I where many gave their lives in defense of French democracy. Also speaking during the ceremony were Christiane Barody-Weiss, mayor of nearby Marnes-la-Coquette, and General Moseley's French air force counterpart, Gen. Stephane Abrial.
