Running and remembering
Members of the 407th Air Expeditionary Group start a 5K run, which is the kickoff to a full day of events celebrating Memorial Day May 28 at Ali Air Base, Iraq. Memorial Day, originally named Decoration Day, was instituted May 5, 1866, in Waterloo, N.Y., to honor the fallen Union Soldiers of the Civil War. After World War I it was expanded to include all military members that have given the ultimate sacrifice for their country. (U.S. Air Force photo/Master Sgt. Robert W. Valenca)
