Portrait preserves pilot's legacy
Carol Ready holds the bracelet which her father, Capt. Thomas Wakeman, wore in the portrait displayed in the U.S. Air Force Band Headquarters building at Bolling Air Force Base, Washington, D.C. Captain Wakeman was a World War II veteran and B-26 Marauder pilot for the Army Air Forces. For the first time Mrs. Ready saw the original portrait, painted in 1944, during a visit to Washington.(U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt. Cohen A. Young)
