Pulling up to the pump

An F-16 Fighting Falcon approaches a KC-135 Stratotanker for refueling over central Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom May 19. The KC-135 is deployed from Fairchild Air Force Base, Wash., and the F-16 is deployed to Balad Air Base, Iraq, from Aviano AB, Italy. The F-16 Fighting Falcon is a compact, multi-role fighter aircraft. It can locate targets in all weather conditions and detect low flying aircraft in radar ground clutter. In an air-to-surface role, the F-16 can fly more than 500 miles, deliver its weapons with superior accuracy, defend itself against enemy aircraft, and return to its starting point.
