Coast Guard pilot traces roots to Air Force education opportunities
Coast Guard Lt. Cmdr. Juan Lopez (center) and two other Coast Guardsmen walk out to an HH-65C Dolphin March 21 at Coast Guard Air Station Borinquen, Puerto Rico. Their mission was to work with the Puerto Rican Police Department and help them train on how to dive out from a helicopter to rescue people at sea. A former Senior Airman, Commander Lopez is an aircraft commander and the assistant operations officer at the air station. Coast Guard Air Station Borinquen is based at what used to be Ramey Air Force Base, which closed in 1973. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt. Ben Gonzales)
