Eielson Airmen help keep mushers, dogs in race
The Dog Drop in North Pole is the last checkpoint for the Yukon Quest before the finish line in Fairbanks, Alaska. More than 160 Airmen braved below negative 40 degrees temperatures to help man the check-point for mushers and dog teams to rest and eat. The Yukon Quest is a 1,000-mile international dog sled race held annually in Alaska. Mushers race through territory from Whitehorse to Fairbanks. (U.S. Air Force photo/Staff Sgt. Gloria Wilson)
