In memory of President Ford
The American flag and the U. S. Air Force flag fly at half staff in front of the Air Force Memorial in Arlington, Va. in honor of President Gerald R. Ford, who passed away Dec. 26 at age 93. During his tenure as president, Ford signed legislation permitting women to enter military academies Oct. 7, 1975. Women first entered the United States Air Force Academy on June 28, 1976. He will be laid to rest Jan. 2 on the grounds of the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum in Grand Rapids, Mich., the president's hometown. (U. S. Air Force photo/Tech Sgt. Cohen A. Young)
