Robert's Plants
This spurge farm, a small plot of land with a chicken wire fence and a couple yellow plastic barrels of water for its crop of Ascension Spurge (E. origanoides) are located in a nearly barren field. Ongoing studies by the Computer Sciences Raytheon contract environmental engineering associates have taught them that this endemic plant survives best in these austere locations. This endangered species of plant found only on the Ascension Island, predominantly on the property used by the 45th Operations Group, Detachment 2, Ascension Auxiliary Airfield (AAF), in the South Atlantic Ocean. The environmental engineers and the local British conservation organization work together to promote its growth and to harvest seeds for a seed bank in England just incase survival conditions on the island drastically change.
