One final salute
District Deputy Grand Master of the 31st Masonic District Clifton Johnson Sr. leads his lodge brothers in prayer beside the casket of Capt. Kermit Evans during the Masonic burial portion of his funeral Dec. 12 at Arlington National Cemetery. Captain Evans had been a Mason for more than a year. More than 200 friends and relatives gathered to pay their respects to Captain Evans, a member of the 27th Civil Engineering Squadron Explosives Ordnance Disposal Flight at Cannon Air Force Base, N.M. He was deployed to Iraq when the helicopter he was a passenger in made an emergency landing and crashed. He was one of the four out of 16 who were killed as a result of the crash. He is survived by his wife, Perneatha, and Kermit Jr., their 13-month-old son.(U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt. Cohen Young)
