Remembering a day of infamy

LACKLAND AIR FORCE BASE, Texas (AFPN) -- David McGlasson, 59th Clinical Research Squadron clinical research scientist, stands before the 59th Medical Wing flag as it flies at half staff Thursday in commemoration for those who lost their lives during the bombing of Pearl Harbor Dec. 7, 1941. Mr. McGlasson holds the Purple Heart certificate and commemorative coin given to his family in honor of his uncle, U.S. Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class (Gunners 3rd Mate) Otis McGlasson, who died aboard the USS Arizona that day. His uncle was 24 years old. Mr. McGlasson has always felt a special kindred spirit with his uncle, he said, having been born on Dec. 7, 1946, at the same time as the sinking of the USS Arizona.
