Green sea turtles
A female green sea turtle digs a nest for her eggs on a beach on Ascension Island, a small island located in the South Atlantic Ocean. Every year, thousands of green sea turtles visit the island to mate and lay their eggs on its beaches. Members of the 45th Space Wing's Detachment 2 environmental engineering team work closely with the island government's conservation group to ensure the endangered sea turtles are properly protected and respected by the people of the island.
