Volunteers create safety barrier
Near the Kirkuk Air Base, Iraq, flightline, 1st Lt. Sam Walker untangles aircraft cables June 5. Airmen teamed up to place barriers, cables and signs around the airfield to lessen safety risks. The project saved an estimated $500,000 by using existing assets and volunteers. Lieutenant Walker, a Miami native, is the 506th Expeditionary Operations Support Squadron airfield operations flight director, and is deployed from Key Field, Miss.
