JPAC team returns from Austria

Army Sgt. Robert Danford screens through soil in an attempt to find any human remains, aircraft wreckage or personal effects at his work site near Vostenhof, Austria, Sept. 4. Sergeant Danford is a recovery NCO from the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii. An 18-member JPAC team, including a forensic anthropologist, explosive ordnance disposal technician and field medic, returned Oct. 1 after 45 days in Austria attempting to recover the remains of 1st Lt. Stanley Dwyer and gunner Sgt. John Boros who were lost in the crash May 10, 1944. The mission of JPAC is to achieve the fullest possible accounting of all Americans missing as a result of the nation's past conflicts. (U.S. Air Force photo/Staff Sgt. Derrick C. Goode)
