Airmen ensure blood flows to forward locations

Capt. Scott Corey sorts through the blood units that have arrived at the 379th Expeditionary Medical Group's Expeditionary Blood Transshipment System at a forward operating base in Southwest Asia. The units are arranged in a walk-in refrigerator by expiration date. Each unit of blood is good for roughly 42 days. By the time most blood reaches the location, it is already almost two weeks old. Captain Corey is the U.S. Central Command area joint blood program officer. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt. Chuck Marsh)
