Hurricane response
The 46th Weather Squadron at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla., monitored Hurricane Dennis -- in July 2005 -- from the time it became a hurricane in the Caribbean Sea. Weather forecasters gave period updates to base battle staff members sheltered in the Air Armament Center headquarters building here. With hurricane season right around the corner, from June through November, Eglin held a three-day exercise May 15 through May 17, 2006, called "Hurricane Lisette," to prepare for the next big storm.
