Survival refresher course

Students use a map and GPS (global positioning system) to find their location May 4, 2006 during a ground survival refresher course at Schofield Barracks training area, Hawaii. The course provides hands on realistic training for aircrew members that concentrates on the principles, techniques, and skills necessary to survive in any environment and return home. Staff Sgt. Ferguson is the SERE (survival, evasion resistance and escape) instructor from the 15th Operations Support Squadron. He is responsible for training all active duty and Air National Guard aircrews on Hickam. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt. Shane A. Cuomo)
