Pallet drop over California

Senior Airman Mark Richwine disconnects the parachute from a Type 5 heavy pallet after it landed at Edwards Air Force Base, Calif., on Sunday, April 30, 2006. The pallet had been dropped from a C-130J Hercules as part of a test to certify the aircraft's capability to drop this type of pallet. Guard, Reserve and active-duty aircrews from Channel Islands Air National Guard Base, Calif.; Little Rock AFB, Ark.; and Keesler AFB, Miss., participated in the certification. This was the first time the "J" model dropped a Type 5 pallet. Airman Richwine is with the 146th Aerial Port Squadron at Channel Islands ANGB. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt. Dave Buttner)
