Pallet drop over California
Lt. Col. Arvin Mayberry checks the tag on a Type 5 heavy pallet that was extracted from a C-130J Hercules on Sunday, April 30, 2006. Two Airmen in the background pack the parachute which pulled the pallet from the aircraft. Guard, Reserve and active-duty aircrews from Channel Islands Air National Guard Base, Calif.; Little Rock AFB, Ark.; and Keesler AFB, Miss., participated in the mission which tested the aircraft's capability to drop this type of pallet. This was the first time the "J" model dropped a Type 5 pallet. Colonel Mayberry is with the 115th Airlift Squadron at Channel Islands ANGB. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt. Dave Buttner)
