Team tests pod at 'LITENING' speed

A LITENING pod, like the grey cylinder attached to the bottom of this F-16 Fighting Falcon's fuselage, is an operational precision targeting pod system used with a wide variety of combat aircraft. The 416th Flight Test Squadron at Edwards Air Force Base, Calif., recently started accelerated testing of a LITENING-AT targeting pod, which will update the existing LITENING pod with several new capabilities, including a video downlink transmitter currently used in the Predator Unmanned Aerial Vehicle.
