'That others may live'
Airman Basic Matthew Bernard and other pararescue trainees endure water-filled masks while performing more than a thousand flutter kicks at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, on Thursday, April 6, 2006. The Airmen had already completed 20 hours of non-stop physical training during their extended training day at the pararescue indoctrination course. The 10-week indoctrination training is the first hurdle of intense physical and mental training for pararescue hopefuls. It prepares them for the 12 to 15 months of extreme training they must pass to become Air Force pararescue members. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt Cecilio M. Ricardo Jr.)
