Honoring an astronaut
FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. (AFPN) -- Barbara and Bobby Anderson, parents of astronaut Lt. Col. Michael Anderson, hold up a picture of their son in the basement of their Spokane, Wash., home. Colonel Anderson was one of only a handful of African-American astronauts and one of seven crewmembers aboard the Space Shuttle Columbia when it exploded on re-entry just minutes before its scheduled touchdown Feb. 1, 2003.
