EIELSON AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska -- An Airman works on the GAU-2 multi-barreled machine gun of his HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopter. The troop, from the 33d Rescue Squadron at Kadena Air Base, Japan, did the preflight check before the aircraft took off for Cope Thunder mission Oct. 18. Cope Thunder, a two-week air and ground combat exercise involving more than 1,000 Airmen and Sailors and 87 aircraft that started Oct. 7, ended Oct. 20. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt.
