Air Force posthumously awards Bronze Star
BREWER, Maine -- Chaplain (Maj. Gen.) Charles C. Baldwin (right) posthumously presents the Bronze Star to Staff Sgt. Merle Y. Strang on Sept. 27. Accepting the medal on his brother's behalf is the Rev. Homer Strang. Sergeant Strang was awarded the Bronze Star for his participation in the Korean War's Kiddie Car Airlift, where he was credited for saving the lives of 950 orphans and 100 orphanage staff members.
