Civilian ensures Fourth of July celebration goes off with bang
SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. -- Bob Howett frays the end of a fuse while preparing for this year's Fourth of July celebration. Opening the end of the fuse slows down the speed at which the fuse burns, ensuring the load crew has enough time to get away from the launching tube. Mr. Howett has been putting on fireworks shows here since the 1980s. The Air Force retiree works for the 4th Civil Engineer Squadron's self-help store. (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman J.G.
