Challenge pushes Airmen, Soldiers
Senior Airman Matthew McCarthy kicks down a door on a tactical entry trainer as Staff Sgt. Cory Bobo, Senior Airman Paulo Giraldo and Senior Airman Erin Kinney wait to enter during a Defender Challenge course April 25 at an air base in Southwest Asia. At the end of the course, the team would have to identify everything they saw inside to earn points toward their score. Airman McCarthy, Sergeant Bobo and Airman Giraldo are with the 380th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron and Airman Kinney is with the 380th Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron. The team won the competition beating out the second place team by one second. Airman McCarthy is deployed from Bolling Air Force Base, D.C., and hails from Omaha, Neb. Sergeant Bobo is deployed from Aviano Air Base, Italy and hails from Athens, Ohio. Airman Giraldo is deployed from Bolling AFB and hails from Revere, Mass.
