Practicing medicine in the field

LAS FLORES, El Salvador -- Army Sgt. Nichole Mueller shouts orders to a litter crew consisting of Army Spc. Brett Strout, Airman 1st Class James Petronella, Army Sgt. Edward Walsh, and Senior Airmen Neil Sutherland and Russ Ward to maintain proper approach alignment with a UH-60 Blackhawk used to evacuate Army Sgt. George Ruf during a medical evacuation exercise here April 19. The exercise tested the response capabilities of medics, a joint Army and Air Force construction crew and an aircrew from the 24th Medical Company supporting Joint Task Force Para Los Ninos. The exercise is a joint humanitarian readiness exercise providing schools and clinics around the San Vicente area hit hardest by multiple earthquakes in 2001. The Airmen are medics from Cannon Air Force Base, N.M. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. Karen J. Tomasik)
