Reservists support Antarctic mission

MCMURDO STATION, Anartica -- A C-141C Starlifter is unloaded on an ice runway at McMurdo Station, Antarctica. Engine and brake heaters keep aircraft parts from freezing while the plane is unloaded. The Starlifter crew brought cargo and supplies from Christchurch, New Zealand, during Operation Deep Freeze. Deep Freeze is a joint military operation of the U.S. Armed Forces and the New Zealand Defence Forces, providing logistic support for the U.S. National Science Foundation's Antarctic Program.
