Hurricane Charley
OVER FLORIDA -- Staff Sgt. Scott Blair records weather data collected off the coast of Florida inside the eye of Hurricane Charley on Aug. 13. He is a dropsonde systems operator for the 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron, better known as the "Hurricane Hunters." The squadron is based at Keesler Air Force Base, Miss., and provides surveillance of tropical storms and hurricanes in the Atlantic, Caribbean, Gulf of Mexico and Central Pacific for the National Hurricane Center in Miami.
