Blood Supply
AL UDEID AIR BASE, Qatar -- A member of the blood transshipment center staff takes a temperature reading of 6.5 degrees Celsius on a box of blood before it is stored. The temperature must remain between 1 and 10 degrees Celsius while it is being catalogued. When it is shipped, blood is packed in plastic foam and ice until it gets to the appropriate place, where it is then refrigerated until needed. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class J.G.
