World War II Memorial
WASHINGTON -- The World War II Memorial is nestled between the Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument on the National Mall here. Names of each U.S. state, territory and the District of Columbia are inscribed on marble pillars in the order that they entered the Union. Bronze oak and wheat wreaths adorn each pillar symbolizing the nation's industrial and agricultural strength. (U.S. Air Force photo by Master Sgt. Jim Varhegyi)
