Mending the wounded
TALLIL AIR BASE, Iraq -- Capt. James Smith prepares medication for 9-year-old Saleh Kahlaf while his father, Raheem Kahlaf, watches. Saleh was critically injured by a land mine near his school in Al Nasiriyah and had been cared for by 332nd Expeditionary Medical Squadron airmen until his aeromedical evacuation mission to the United States.
