Remembering World War I veterans
OUDENAARDE, Belgium -- Senior Airman Shawn Ford warms up his trumpet before performing in a Veterans Day ceremony here Nov. 11. He was one of the U.S. Air Forces in Europe Band airmen who participated in a multinational ceremony which honored American, French, British and Belgian forces that died fighting German forces during World War I. In all, more than 4,700 American servicemen died fighting in Belgium during the war, and 368 of them remain buried near here in Flanders Field American Cemetery. (U.S. Air Force photo by Capt.
