Bird radar tracks patterns
ELMENDORF AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska -- Herman Griese adjusts the satellite dish for the base's bird-radar system. The mobile system is contained in a small trailer and is connected to a revolving satellite dish by a 100-foot umbilical cord. It will allow wildlife experts to observe and document patterns of bird activity. Griese is a wildlife biologist with the 3rd Civil Engineer Squadron. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt.
