U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. -- Two traditional Navajo hogans are being constructed here by 79 cadets taking a field civil-engineering course designed to bridge the gap between academic theory and hands-on practice. The course is managed by a cadre of 19 senior cadets and 35 mentors. Each mentor is an experienced Air Force civil engineer from active-duty, Guard and Reserve units. The traditional eight-sided structures will be delivered to the Navajo nation in Gallup, N.M., in October. (U.S. Air Force photo by 2nd Lt. Greg A. Hignite)
