US Air Force Academy, CO

Dean of Faculty Brig. Gen. Dana Born, and Commandant of Cadets Brig. Gen. Samuel Cox,, leads the cadet wing on the Run to the Rock, which is a formation run from the Cadet Area to Cathedral Rock during Recognition. Fourth-class cadets were then required to locate their squadron "charge", a railroad tie fitted with rope handles and decorated by their classmates, and carry it, as a team, back to the Cadet Area. After completing this task of Recognition, fourth-class cadets performed a retreat ceremony and were presented their Props and Wings to wear on their flight caps during a special ceremony, signifying their acceptance into the cadet wing.
