Staff Sgt. Christopher Akin uses a short-range calibrator to ensure survey equipment, telescopes and other optical measuring instruments maintain proper alignment. Sergeant Akin is a Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory technician in the 46th Maintenance Squadron at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla.
