National Guard in two states prepare for rising river waters
More than 600 National Guardsmen in Illinois and Missouri will continue sandbagging operations along the Mississippi River June 16 in an effort to thwart the floodwaters that are subsiding in Iowa. Guardsmen fill sandbags in Clarksville, Mo., an area expected to recieve more floodwater this week. In Illinois, 400 Soldiers and Airmen were mobilized during the weekend to work on the levees north and south of Quincy, Ill.
