Brig. Gen. Darryl Roberson, 325th Fighter Wing commander, makes his way to the entrance of the Tyndall Air Force Base Chapel March 16 where a memorial service for the first Chief Master Sgt. of the Air Force, Paul W. Airey, was held. He is flanked on either side by formations of Airmen from the Tyndall Paul W. Airey NCO Academy. Chief Airey spent 27 years in the Air Force, obtaining the rank of Chief Master Sgt. of the Air Force April 3, 1967. He retired Aug. 1, 1970 and died March 11. He was 85 years old.
