FARALLONS BATTERY MISSION

Staff Sgts. Andrew Hedin and Joseph Kenney prepare photovoltaic batteries Feb. 17 for sling transport to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service research facility on Farallon Island, which sits some 30 miles west of San Francisco. Airmen from the California Air National Guard's 129th Rescue Wing at Moffett Federal Airfield, Calif, are assisting with the swap-out of batteries that power a lighthouse and a workshop at the research facility.
