Temporary hospital finds permanent place in history
Senior Airmen Lewis Paine and Ivan Alandzak prepare a portion of a tent Feb. 29 for shipment to the National Museum of Health and Medicine in Washington where it is slated for exhibition. The tent was part of the origianal Air Force Theater Hospital at Balad Air Base, Iraq. The medical community considers the tent to be the place where the most American blood was spilled since the Vietnam War. Airman Paine is a 332nd Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron power production journeyman deployed from Ellsworth, S.D. and Airman Alandzak is a 332nd ECES liquid fuel journeyman deployed from Malmstrom Air Force Base, Mont.
