All processing, loading and transporting of Iraqi troops are being conducted by the Iraqi air force. Iraqi airmen flew more than 45 C-130E and rotary wing missions in support of air operations in Basra, Iraq. Since March 24, Iraqi Air Force airmen have airlifted food, water, medical supplies, and other goods into the region. They also transported more than 170 tons of cargo and approximately 800 Iraqi military personnel. Iraqi aircrews also flew more than 50 intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions. The Coalition Air Force Transition Team’s mission is to train, advise, and assist the Iraqi Air Force using embedded military transition teams to support the progressive transition of counter-insurgency air operations to the government of Iraq.
