WC-130J aircraft assigned to the 403rd Wing received the last of 10 radiometers Feb. 15 at Keesler Air Force Base, Miss. The stepped-frequency microwave radiometer, or smurf, is a state-of-the-art instrument designed to continuously and accurately measure the winds at the ocean's surface directly below the aircraft.
