Iraqi leaders visit civilian IED victims at Air Force hospital
Leaders from the city of Balad, Iraq, meet with Maj. (Dr.) Paul DeFlorio (right) Feb. 11 at Balad Air Base, Iraq. The doctor oversaw the medical treatment of 20 Iraqi civilians who were transported to the hospital the day before by Army Soldiers after a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device was detonated near the city of Balad. The Iraqi leaders were taken to the bedsides of their injured countrymen by Col. Timothy Halligan, the 332nd Expeditionary Medical Group deputy commander (center). Major DeFlorio is the Air Force Theater Hospital emergency department officer in charge. Major DeFlorio and Colonel Halligan are deployed from Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.
