Staff Sgt. Elvin Cortes inputs the weights of luggage as evacuees leaving before Hurricane Gustav hits the Gulf Coast prepare to depart the Louis Armstrong International Airport in New Orleans Aug. 30. They will be boarding flights officials with the Federal Emergency Management Agency and Department of Defense have chartered to transport citizens who otherwise could not leave on their own to destinations safely outside the hurricane's path. Sergeant Cortes is from the 615th Contingency Response Wing at Travis Air Force Base, Calif. (U.S. Air Force photo/Staff Sgt. Shawn Weismiller)
